Repentance means to turn from sin. An authentic Christian conversion involves turning to God and turning from Sin at the same time. People turn to God without turning from sin, and people turn from sin without turning to God. One without the other is empty of salvation, and a real Christian has done both at once.
The Christian is being transformed into a new creation that looks more and more like Jesus over time. This comes from outside us, but we must cooperate with it.
Jesus prays for the sanctification of his disciples so that they will grow as they become transformed into the image of Christ. He prays for His disciples as He sends us into this world to represent His kingdom.
Jesus will teach his disciples that they are going to stand out from this world, because the values of a Christian disciple are inverted compared to the value systems of this world. The result is that the Christian is going to experience trouble in this world, and paradise in God’s Kingdom, while the people of earth will fit in with this world and experience hell in the next life. By the power of God, we too will overcome this world!
This is a summary of an 11 week sermon series that describes our values and our strategy to connect people to living out those values.
As we wrap up our sermon series, we will look at the final manifestation of the Holy Spirit in Discernment to understand what it means and why we need it. Then we will look at the doctrine of the Trinity to try to understand it as best as we humanly can.
We are going to look at the spiritual gift of giving as well as the doctrines of giving. We have discovered that many in our church have never heard about the doctrines of giving and have been surprised as they learned about what the Word says. Since there is not much to be said about the gift of giving, we are going to use this as an opportunity to deal with giving in the body of christ in general as well.

We may share in the suffering of Jesus Christ, but we also get to inherit His glory, which surpasses any momentary afflictions that this world may offer!
